Kelsey Walworth

...is a scientist, writer, outdoor-enthusiast, and lover of all creatures. She lives in Ann Arbor, Michigan, where she will soon graduate from the University of Michigan with a BS in Biology and a minor in Writing.

Over the past four years, she has engaged in multiple research projects in molecular and cellular biology, contributed to a peer-reviewed publication, and conducted ecology and environmental science fieldwork at the University of Michigan Biological Station and in New Zealand. She's also worked at a northern Michigan summer camp as a horseback riding instructor and trail guide for four years and been to the University of Michigan's New England Literatures Program

As a scientist and a writer, Kelsey is passionate about science communication strives to make science accessible to more people through her work. She believes that knowledge of the natural world is a powerful tool for connecting with other humans and building a healthier world. She hopes to continue using writing to share her excitement for science and encourage others to be curious about the world around them.

In her free time, Kelsey likes to go for runs along the Huron River, ride horses, and spot wildlife around town. She also spends as much time as possible on Torch Lake and Walloon Lake in northern Michigan, where she enjoys swimming and exploring the woods. After graduation, she is planning to pursue a PhD in ecology (or a related life science field) and continuing building this capstone project into a published essay collection!
